The 2024 PGA Championship is happening this week at Valhalla, and it should be a good one.
The weather has everyone waiting to see how this course will play. Reports from the ground currently indicate that the fairways are drying out, but the greens are still soft. This is a long course, and if it stays waterlogged, it's going to play even longer. The greens at Valhalla are also smaller than the average green size on tour. So, you're looking at long irons into small greens. With rain in the forecast for Friday, we'll have to wait and see.
Rory is coming into this week white hot; he won the Wells Fargo Championship last week and the Zurich Classic the week before. Something seems different about Rory; he is focused. He also won this tournament at Valhalla 10 years ago.
Scottie is a new dad. His mind probably isn't on golf, but you could say the same after he won the Masters and then went on to win the RBC the very next week. With the way he is playing, I'll never count Scottie out.
Brooks is also coming off a win on the LIV Tour. He is always a frontrunner in majors, with the way he traditionally shows up. I mean, he has won this tournament three times. He didn't fare well at the Masters, but this is a good opportunity for the LIV guy to show they still have it. But honestly, I'm not sure they do.
Rahm and DeChambeau need to show up this week to prove me wrong. Look out for some new guys; Ludvig Aberg showed he is not shy from the moment.
